B’more Green
B’more Green is a 6 week workforce development program that prepares Baltimore residents for entry-level careers in the fields of environmental technology and brownfields mitigation. Participants earn environmental health and safety certifications and attend personal development workshops to address barriers to obtaining and retaining employment. After completing B’more Green, participants are placed in full-time jobs with an average starting wage between $12 and $16 per hour.
Since 2001, B’more Green has trained 165 participants, representing a variety of ages and backgrounds, and placed 89% in full-time employment. The program has had great success working with veterans and ex-offenders. Since 2005, 43% of participants have been veterans with significant barriers to employment and 70% of participants have been formerly incarcerated or have had a substantial history of arrest and conviction.
