Carbon Offsets

Through our Project Lightbulb program, Civic Works provides a local opportunity to offset carbon production. With your donation of $250, Civic Works will visit one low-income Baltimore City home and perform the following services:

  • Exchange 15 incandescent lightbulbs for Compact Fluorescent Lights (CFLs) to reduce Lightbulb energy use by 75%.
  • Install one low-flow showerhead, one kitchen faucet aerator and one bathroom faucet aerator.
  • Install one hot water heater wrap and 25 feet of pipe insulation.

Your contribution will result in a low-income homeowner conserving approximately 636 kWh of electricity and 3.4 million gallons of water each year. This equates to an average carbon reduction of 600 lbs in just the first year.
