Ricky Myers Day of Service

Civic Works held the first Day of Service in Honor of Ricky Myers in October 2003. Ricky Myers was with Civic Works for almost a year, as a crew leader on a summer waterway clean-up project and an assistant supervisor on a neighborhood clean-up program. Ricky was passionate about the environment and the importance of doing hands-on work to make difference in communities. He tragically lost his life in 2003 and our Day of Service honors the impact Ricky had on Baltimore’s communities and Civic Works’ corpsmembers.

Each year, hundreds of volunteers join us on the Day of Service to clean parks and vacant lots, plant trees, paint schools, repair homes for elderly residents, create community gardens, and help communities conserve energy.
